Motors are one of the indispensable equipment in modern industry and are widely used in various fields. Among the types of motors, three-phase synchronous motors and three-phase asynchronous motors are two common types. What's the difference? This article will describe their differences in detail.

First, let's take a look at three-phase synchronous motors. A three-phase synchronous motor means that the speed of the motor is synchronized with the power frequency, that is, the number of turns per second is equal to the number of turns of the power frequency. It is a motor with high efficiency and high power factor, which is usually used in large mechanical equipment, generator sets and other occasions. The three-phase synchronous motor has stable speed and high precision, and is suitable for precise control, but requires an external synchronous device to maintain synchronization.

The three-phase asynchronous motor means that the speed of the motor is not synchronized with the power frequency, and its speed is slightly lower than the theoretical value brought by the power frequency. It is a motor with simple structure and low cost, which is widely used in household appliances, small mechanical equipment and other occasions. The speed of the three-phase asynchronous motor changes with the change of the load, the precision is low, and it is not suitable for precise control, but it does not need an external synchronous device and is easy to use.

In addition to the difference in speed, three-phase synchronous motors and three-phase asynchronous motors are also different in structure. Three-phase synchronous motors usually use permanent magnets or induction bodies as the rotor, which realizes rotation by interacting with three AC windings on the stator; while three-phase asynchronous motors achieve rotation through the interaction of current between the rotor and the stator .

In addition, three-phase synchronous motors and three-phase asynchronous motors are also different in usage occasions. Since the three-phase synchronous motor needs an external synchronous device to keep the synchronization, it is usually suitable for occasions with high precision and high requirements, such as generator sets, high-speed trains, etc.; and the three-phase asynchronous motor is usually suitable for general Household appliances, small mechanical equipment and other occasions.

In general, three-phase synchronous motors and three-phase asynchronous motors are different in terms of speed, structure, and use occasions. Which type of motor to choose should be decided according to specific usage requirements.
