EU pure electric vehicle sales in the second quarter increased by 11.1% year-on-year
According to data released by the European Automobile Association (ACEA), sales of pure electric vehicles in the EU continued to expand in the second quarter of 2022, with their share of total passenger vehicle registrations increasing to 9.9% from 7.5% in the same period last year, due to fuel The car's market share shrank, along with a decline in total car sales.
In the second quarter of this year, the market share of petrol and diesel vehicles in the EU fell to 55.8% from 62.0% in the same period last year, and the combined sales of both models fell by more than one-fifth. In contrast, pure electric vehicle sales increased by 11.1%. Of the new cars sold, two-fifths were electric, with hybrids still the most popular with a 22.6 percent market share.
The number of new car registrations in the EU in June was the lowest since 1996, as logistical bottlenecks and persistent chip shortages limited car production, ACEA data showed.
