How to determine and calculate the amount of oil to be added to motor bearings?

Date:2024-11-15 Author:XINDA MOTOR

The amount of oil to be added to the motor bearing is determined based on factors such as bearing type, size, speed, and working environment. The following are some key points about the amount of oil to be added to the bearing.

Filling amount : Generally speaking, the filling amount of the bearing should be between 1/3 and 1/2 of the bearing chamber clearance. Too much filling may cause the bearing to overheat, while too little filling may not achieve a good lubrication effect.

Period : The oiling period should be determined according to the use of the bearing and the manufacturer's recommendations. Generally, it is recommended to refuel a two-pole motor once every six months and a motor with four poles or more once a year, but it can also be calculated based on the motor manufacturer's requirements for the bearing or based on the operating hours.

Usually, the filling ratio of zero-type bearings varies from 15% to 40% depending on the size of the bearing. The smaller the bearing, the smaller the ratio, and vice versa, the larger the bearing, the larger the ratio. The filling ratio of precision bearings varies from 15% to 25%.

The bearing manufacturer usually has data on the inner space of the bearing. If it is unknown, it can be calculated by the difference between the weight of a new bearing without grease and the weight of a bearing that is 100% full of grease, that is, the weight of 100% grease.

According to the bearing outer diameter D and width B, the filling amount is calculated using the formula: Q=0.005xDxB.

According to the bearing inner diameter d and width B, the filling amount is calculated using the formula: Q=0.01xdxB.

The second grease amount for the bearing is estimated based on the bearing inner diameter d and width B, and is calculated using the filling amount formula: Q=0.005xdxB.

For high-speed bearings , the dimensions of the bearing size factor K, outer diameter D and width B are calculated using the filling amount formula: Q=0.001xKxDxB.

In actual bearing operation, it is not possible to generalize and should be used flexibly. For some motors, the amount of grease should be appropriately increased: high temperature, heavy load, humid water environment, dusty environment, inconvenient oiling, long oiling cycle, short grease life. For some motors, the amount of grease should be appropriately reduced: low temperature, small load, good environment, convenient oiling, short oiling cycle or automatic oiler, long grease life.
