How to wind the motor coil?

Date:2023-09-13 Author:XINDA MOTOR

Today I will talk about the steps to wind the motor coil.

There are many types of motors, and the windings of the coils of each motor are also different. Some small motors are as big as an egg, and the inner cavity diameter of the iron core of large motors is as large as 70 or 80 centimeters. Repairers can perform repair work inside the motor core. The steps for winding the coils are also different for such large differences. For example, when repairing a hand drill rotor, you only need to know the wire diameter, number of turns, and pitch, and handle the gap between the slots, and then you can directly wind it by hand. There are more winding steps for single-phase and three-phase asynchronous motors or large motors.

Since there are many types of motors and the steps for winding the coils are also very different, it is impossible to introduce the steps for winding the coils of various motors one by one. The following takes single-phase and three-phase low-power motors as examples to introduce their coil winding steps.

The number of stator slots of single-phase 220V motors is mostly 24, the magnetic poles are mostly 2-pole or 4-pole, and the primary and secondary windings are mostly concentric. The number of slots of three-phase asynchronous motors is: 18, 24, 30, 36, etc., and the winding form is : Single layer concentric, single chain, single layer crossover, single and double layer hybrid, and double layer winding... and other winding forms.

Regardless of the shape of the winding, the first step is to first know the winding form, such as single-layer concentric, single-chain, single-cross, and pitch. To know the coil size. After mastering the size, shape it on the online template.

The second step: Check the number of turns, number of parallel wires, diameter of parallel wires, number of series coils, number of motor poles, and parallel branches of windings, etc.

Step 3: Repeatedly test the size of the coil model. If it is too large, the coil will come out of the motor end cover and cause a ground fault. If it is small, it will not be easy to offline. It is suitable only if it is neither too big nor too small.

The work of dipping paint, drying, and testing is beside the topic and will not be discussed further.

Supplement: When winding, please note that the counter of the winding machine should be reset to zero after each winding.

Before the wound coils are removed from the template, each coil should be tied with white cloth tape to avoid messy threads.
