According to foreign media reports, BMW and Michigan-based battery startup Our Next Energy (ONE) will develop a long-range version of the BMW iX.

The Gemini battery developed by ONE will include two types of cells, one of which has an advanced chemistry that can store more energy, allowing the vehicle to travel 600 miles (965 kilometers) or more. ONE said a BMW prototype with its batteries is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

According to Mujeeb ljaz, founder and CEO of ONE, Gemini batteries are designed to reduce the consumption of traditional power battery materials such as cobalt, nickel, graphite, and lithium. And said that ONE will provide three battery versions of different sizes and prices in the future, of which the low-end version costs the same as today's traditional nickel and cobalt-based batteries. This also means that the high-end version of the battery will be more expensive, but the performance should be expected to be stronger.
