A few days ago,media insideevs reported that Stellantis Group and Samsung SDI officially announced that they will jointly build a battery manufacturing plant in Indiana, USA. The plant is scheduled to start production in the first half of 2025 with an initial capacity of 23GWh/year, and plans to increase capacity to 33GWh/year in the next few years.
The factory has invested more than 2.5 billion US dollars (about 16.6 billion yuan) at present, and plans to invest 3.1 billion US dollars in the future. According to Stellantis Group's Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, its pure electric vehicle sales are expected to reach 5 million units per year by 2030. In order to achieve this sales target, Stellantis Group predicts that future battery demand will reach 400GWh/year.
